The Bourbon Kings by JR Ward, Book Review

General Information
Genre: Romance, Fiction
Publisher: Penguin
Published: July 28, 2015

Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood delivers the first novel in an enthralling new series set amid the shifting dynamics of a Southern family defined by wealth and privilege—and compromised by secrets, deceit, and scandal....

For generations, the Bradford family has worn the mantle of kings of the bourbon capital of the world. Their sustained wealth has afforded them prestige and privilege—as well as a hard-won division of class on their sprawling estate, Easterly. Upstairs, a dynasty that by all appearances plays by the rules of good fortune and good taste. Downstairs, the staff who work tirelessly to maintain the impeccable Bradford facade. And never the twain shall meet.

For Lizzie King, Easterly’s head gardener, crossing that divide nearly ruined her life. Falling in love with Tulane, the prodigal son of the bourbon dynasty, was nothing that she intended or wanted—and their bitter breakup only served to prove her instincts were right. Now, after two years of staying away, Tulane is finally coming home again, and he is bringing the past with him. No one will be left unmarked: not Tulane’s beautiful and ruthless wife; not his older brother, whose bitterness and bad blood know no bounds; and especially not the ironfisted Bradford patriarch, a man with few morals, fewer scruples, and many, many terrible secrets.

As family tensions—professional and intimately private—ignite, Easterly and all its inhabitants are thrown into the grips of an irrevocable transformation, and only the cunning will survive.

My Thoughts:
Always leave them wanting more...a cliche yes, but so true!  I loved every page of this and when I reached the last page I was like NOOOO what is next!  Such an amazing cliffhanger or I could say cliffhangers.  I got to know I was happy with some people's current place in life, I was worried about others for health, emotional or risks being taken, and I cannot wait for the next book! At first I could not see how this book would be a series, but my goodness now I want a story for everyone.

I received the first three chapters a bit early to read as a preview and it got me so excited to read this book that as soon as it was published it went from my TBR list to what I was reading.  I must say that the excitement I had from the first three chapters just continued to grow as I read and finished this book.  If this was a tv show (and I feel it could be a movie or show) I would have it queued up to record and watch every week...hello guilty pleasure!

I really want to know more about the real mom of the story.  The scenes with her and Lane or her hugging Edward..the emotion and love is tangible.  I can't wait to see what happens with Tulane's older brother and his one (maybe two) love interests.  His mom upstairs, well she has some explaining to do! His sister, my heart breaks but I also am riveted!  It was like a romantic, thrilling soap opera on paper.  I could not stop turning the pages and I loved the emotional upheaval, the family and relationship dynamics, the historical impact of other generations and society and more.  J.R. Ward is a queen at writing captivating characters and stories that are fully developed and rich in details, emotions and more.

Grey by E.L.James, Book Review

General Information
Genre: Romance, Adult, Fiction
Publisher: Vintage
Published: June 18, 2015

Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

My Thoughts
I enjoyed this book.  In fact I think I enjoyed it more than the initial 50 shades book, but at times I felt it was not really giving me his point of view rather just sharing the same scenes that initially took place between Ana and Christian.  I know some of that would be necessary, but I thought it would discuss more of his emotions, not his just meetings and phone interactions from other family and Mrs.Robinson.  Don't get me wrong I enjoyed learning about those interactions and what emotions or thoughts we did get, but I just hope to see more as we continue reading from Christian's Point of View.  Now if you are hoping for more background and not as many sex scenes..stop..there is plenty of sex scenes and they are steamy.  This story delves a little bit more into the background with his previous subs and the events between Ana and him.

I read some reviews where people did not like the writing style, said it was not good, etc., but I would disagree.  I thought the writing style was easy to follow, it kept me engaged from cover to cover, I didn't want it to end and that I can't wait to see the next books to show his point of view for the rest of the story!

The Unseen Face by Joannes Rhino, Book Review

General Information
Genre: Thriller
Published: June 22nd 2013
Publisher: Createspace

Books Summary (Per Goodreads)
Upon receiving an letter anonymously two weeks prior, ghosts from the past began to come back up to the surface. Nearly every night for the past couple of weeks, poor James has been experiencing a reoccurring nightmare regarding Emilia. In this nightmare he feels that Emilia is trying to tell him something. Perhaps it is nothing, or perhaps it is about how she died. His nightmare came from the very depths of his soul, haunting him silently until he left his guard down and he experienced an ugliness he had never realized existed inside of him. Despite the ugliness and horror that plagued him, James felt as if his soul held the key to answer his reoccurring dreams and that promised to relieve him of his horror. His doctor, Doctor Jonathan assured him that his dreams were connected to his own subconscious state where successions of emotions, sensations, images and ideas occurred in his mind with him knowing it. Doctor Jonathan claimed that this phenomenon was more prevalent in his sleeping state. He also believed that every picture that James saw within his dreams was a form of unspoken contact from Emilia. It wasn't just Doctor Jonathan that agreed. Richard also agreed that James was perhaps suffering from the loss of Emilia. Even Jennifer believed that Emilia was trying to reach out to James to tell him something in his dreams. However, Jennifer went a step even further and asked James to go to Emilia's tomb and attempt to communicate with her that way. However, when James goes to meet Emilia's parents, his adventure truly begins and he begins to learn things he never thought he would. After believing for so long that Emilia died at the hands of a brain tumor, he quickly learns that is not the case. After hearing from Emilia's mother that her daughter had been killed, James feeling confused goes to the Iredell County Jail to meet Emilia's killer, Adam Jackson. This is when James realizes that Emilia was indeed murdered by the hands of a cold blooded killer. Every memory James has of Emilia turns out to be from a pack of twisted and horrible lies and he soon realizes he was not the person he thought himself to be.

My Thoughts
I loved this cover and summary and fittingly, the book follows the summary to a t.  This thriller is told in somewhat of a stream of thought writing style so it helps create the sense of confusion, loss and angst that the main character experienced throughout the story.  I enjoyed the writing style, the ability to create a story that I was intrigued by and kept the action coming.  My hesitation about this story is that I figured out the ending a little bit before I was even half way through the book.  I love it when I am shocked by an ending, but I realize that is not always possible (though a girl can wish!)

Other than what I thought was a predictable ending, I enjoyed this thriller.  The character development was on point, the emotions reached me and I felt like I was with the different characters as they discussed their concerns, emotions and more.  I enjoyed that the author took time to discuss the different mental health concerns that could be at play, the stereotype many people have with them and how the health profession can lead to someone getting help.

If you check out the summary and think it sounds great, that thrillers are your cup of tea then I suggest you check out this book!  It is a quick and action packed story and I look forward to reading more of his work.

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer, Book Review

General Information
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Publisher: Feiwel and Friends
Published: February 5th 2013

Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison--even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner

My Thoughts
This book was equally as great as the first one in the series.  I thought the way that MM combined the two story lines was genius and extremely creative.  I love seeing how she takes timeless fairy-tales that we grow up with and tweak them into an entirely fresh and new world with different spins and angles.  I thought her ability to keep to the depth of character and story-lines for the individuals while keeping an overarching story that everyone has a role in was masterful.  I could not even believe the scene with Cinder's guardian

I would love to see this as a movie or tv show.  The writing style is very detailed and I enjoy the images that I create as I read the stories.  I am not sure if I have a favorite between Cinder and Scarlet, but I think I am aiming more towards Wolf over Kai right now!  I also was thrilled to see certain characters return and the introduction of more individuals that were fantastic to see interact with Cinder and Scarlet.  Lastly, the cover to this book is gorgeous.  I actually think after reading the first two in the series I want to go back and buy the books for my bookshelves!

Do you have a favorite character or story?  I am moving onto book three soon so please no spoilers!

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare, book review

General Information
Genre: YA, Fantasy, Fiction
Publisher:Margaret K. McElderry Books
Published: March 25, 2008

Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

My Thoughts
I enjoyed the first book a great deal, but I loved this book!  The writing and pace were even more enjoyable and the more I learned about the characters the more I found my favorites/got invested in their story.  I adore Magnus and Jace.  I still love Luke and enjoy seeing Clary grow.  I unfortunately am liking Simon less and less:(

I loved how the details were laid out for us readers.  I want to know is Jace his son or not?  What was the Inquisitor trying to say?  Why didn't Clary's moms friend come by sooner?  How are Jace and Clary truly different?!?!? So many questions and I love finding out the answer to each question and then having more!  I have not enjoyed reading a series so much in a while.  I can't wait to start book 3 and see where we go next.

I am still holding out that Jace is not her brother and they can figure that out!  Don't give me any spoilers, but who is your favorite character? I hope to continue to see Magnus, Jace, Luke and Clary grow and stay a wee big snarky/sarcastic in this series.

Awake by Natasha Preston, Book Review

General Information
Genre: YA, Romance, Thriller
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Published: August 4, 2015
Book Summary (Per NetGalley)
Of course, the dress was white. This is what I’m supposed to die in, I thought. Not many people knew what their last outfit would be.
I pulled it over my head. It fit me perfectly. It had long, loose fitting sleeves, a modest neckline, and waves of material on the skirt. I hated it.
There were no shoes, and I was afraid I’d have to run through the forest barefoot but there weren’t a lot of options. Besides, I’d run barefoot over a bed of nails to get away.
“Scarlett, are you ready?” he called.
I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath. Time to fight for my life.

Scarlett Garner doesn’t remember anything before the age of four—until a car accident changes everything. She starts to remember pieces of a past that frighten her. A past her parents hid from her…and a secret that could get her killed.

My Thoughts
The summary about the book is fantastic and spot on for what the reader can expect.  Overall this was a good read, but I did not enjoy the characters.  I was not able to really relate to any of them since I hope I would make different decisions then essentially everyone that was in the book.  However, the writing style and descriptive language helped create the story come to life and take form in my mind.  While I would not recommend this book to any specific groups or friends, I would try another book from this author as her style and vocabulary were enjoyable.

Gluten and Allergen Free Wellness Event Raleigh NC, Recap

This weekend I attended my third Gluten & Allergen Free Wellness Event.  The first two I attended were in Charlotte, but this one was in Raleigh NC.  I had a great time and enjoyed meeting more vendors, learning more information and catching up with some of the great bloggers, chefs, authors and presenters that I have met at the other events!

The last minute prep for all the vendors before the crowds arrived

Similar to Charlotte I received a beyond generous tote bag full of samples and information from many of the vendors. I felt like a kid at Christmas when I got home Saturday and started seeing what all was provided to the bloggers. I will be doing more detailed reviews on some of the products I was fortunate enough to receive, but I wanted to do a quick recap on just the overall event, vendors I loved learning more about this weekend and a presentation that I enjoyed attending.

Overall this was a great event.  There were local vendors, regional vendors and national vendors.  It was great getting to talk to people from all of the companies, hear their stories, what they can offer and also get to try their products.  Many times I have to order my gluten and dairy free items online so I have to pray for a good result or that the reviews I found were honest.  So having the opportunity to learn more and try before buying is something I really enjoy and appreciate.

Presentation

I knew as soon as I saw the presentation schedule that this was the session I did not want to miss.  One of the biggest problems I have faced with my food sensitives is traveling.  Traveling just short distances or long distances always leave me concerned about what to eat, how will my stomach react, etc. So when I saw that this would be discussed I knew that I wanted to be there!  Tarah did an excellent presentation where she shared stories from her own experiences while traveling, lessons learned and how to try to prevent your own mishaps from occurring while traveling.  I have never thought about carrying a card in other languages, but I know for a fact that would have been ideal to have when I was in China a few years ago!

Vendors

A NC company that had the best gluten free blueberry muffin I have found to date.  I loved trying the samples and enjoyed finding such a fresh and delightful tasting product.  I received a wonderful box mix in my blogger bag and will most certainly be trying it out shortly!

I had heard of Arbonne before, but I was so impressed this time around because the consultant took the time to talk with me about the various health and allergy concerns that I am trying to accommodate in my household.  I enjoyed learning from her knowledge and that she said she would research the answers to things I asked that she was not 100% certain on.  Additionally, it did not hurt that the products I tried tasted delicious and did not upset my stomach or cause any other discomfort!

I first tried their drinks in Charlotte this year and fell in love.  They were here in Raleigh and I was delighted to talk with them more, try more products and learn more about all of the great locations that I can now find their fantastic drinks!

So many samples, variety of products, and information!  I loved talking and learning more about this company, the products and the variety of products that are now offered.  My mom and I both had some samples from the booth and then were thrilled when I got home and saw that there were some additional products in the blogger bag.  The taste is fantastic, the products diverse and I am so glad that they were there!
I noticed her logo and brand name immediately.  From there I tried the sample of the brownie she had and yum.  Just yum.  This was delightful to try and I loved that it was so good and still addressed so many allergy concerns that many of us have today.

This was a fascinating table and variety of products!  This is a company that offers freeze dried food and shows you how to utilize them effectively by adding back the water, creating meals, having a longer shelf life and more.  I tried the strawberries, pineapple and chicken salad...yes chicken salad..and it was very good!

Everything about this NC company, their booth, product and information was spot on.  I noticed their booth right away because their display was just clean and fresh.  When I got over there I was impressed with the information, knowledge and breadth of delicious looking products.  I enjoyed talking and learning more about this company and the people behind it.  So I can only tell you how overly excited I was by their generosity with their products in the blogger bag.  I will 100% be reviewing their products after getting to make them and try them out with family/friends.

This company seriously has the most generous booth.  All three events that I attended they have been present and given so many delicious samples away along with coupons and answers to many questions that attendees might have about their products.  I love, LOVE, that they are able to create such amazing products that are free of the top 8 allergens and are Non-GMO.

I absolutely loved this table, product and the gentleman educating us about their items!  The jams, jelly's, elixirs and wellness syrup were out of this world delicious.  It was fantastic seeing someone so passionate about their product and the process that goes into making it.My mom and I still are talking about them.

I could keep describing many of the other vendors (and will in future reviews), but I think this post is already long enough!  I have to say thank you so much to the vendors, to Nikki for holding another fantastic and educational event and the presenters for sharing their knowledge and time with us.  I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to try out the products that were in the bloggers bag!  If you are able to attend a GFAF Wellness Event I strongly encourage you go because each time I go I have more and more fun and learn so much about health, nutrition and available options!

Until my next post..love y'all!

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare, Book Review

General Information
Genre: Fantasy, YA, Fiction,
Publisher:Margaret K. McElderry Books
Published:March 27th 2007

Book Summary (per Goodreads)
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

My Thoughts
So I am super late in getting started on this series, but my goodness it is fantastic.  I requested it from the library and was put on a wait list.  I finally got it and read it in one sitting..so stinking good!  I loved the writing style, the way I could visualize the different demons, locations, emotions and more.  I felt like I could see the tension between the characters, the ups and downs of the different events, the horror of some of the demons and more!

The twists and turns in this story were perfectly timed and placed.  The way Cassandra Clare places details and takes us on the adventure is masterful.  The story kept my attention and guessing from cover to cover. I 100% appreciated how I was kept guessing from one minute to the next about what was truth, what had happened, what was going on, where these events took place and more.  As soon as I finished this book I started in on the next book in the series and I can safely say I am hooked.   I also already have some favorite characters so I hope that doesn't change as I keep reading!  I am loving on Luke, Jace, Magnus and Clary.  Who are your favorites?  Did they change as you read the series? If you enjoy books that are action packed with relateable characters and a fully developed plot you should try this book out!

Beautiful Pain by J. M. Walker , Book Review

General Information
Genre: contemporary, adult fiction, romance
Published: 2015

Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
Warning: This book is not for the faint of heart. If you deal with triggers, please read this book with caution.
Material consists of adult content and BDSM.

I was sent away for protection.
Pulled from a world and forced into another, I lost myself on the way.
No emotion. Only walls to hide feelings that were now masked behind a barrier.
Matteo Santos opened my eyes. He helped me see through the darkness that consumed my soul. He breathed life into my lungs, gripping my heart until it beat again.
With a darkness of his own, it haunted him, turning him into a beautiful Master of seduction and pain.
Through trust and love, we would battle our pasts together.
Before they took control...completely.

"Not everything is as it seems."

My Thoughts
Well written and characters that come to life make this a story that will grab your attention and keep you captivated from cover to cover.  Talk about some damaged characters.  This story does not have a hero or heroine, but to me had two characters that were truly equal in their amount of baggage that they brought to their relationship.  The only question was whose baggage was front and center at what point of the relationship.

The writing is steamy and not for those looking for a sweet and clean romance.  This story delves into some dark sub stories and shows the strength and healing power of love and friendship from family, friends and significant others.

This was the first time I read a book from JM Walker and I loved her style of writing, plot and characters.  I look forward to reading more of her books.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer, Book Review

General Information
Genre: YA, Science Fiction
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Published: January 3rd 2012

Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

My Thoughts
Loved it. From the first page to the last page I was captivated by the writing, imagery, emotions and plot.  I was hesitent to read this book because many reviews talked about the sci-fi component of the story which generally is not my genre of choice.  However, I am so glad I finally read this story and mad that I waited so long because it is so good!

I did not want to put this story down once I started it.  The connection between stories and emotions is interesting and while at times a wee bit predictable, the story was riveting and kept a fast action pace at all times.   I loved the different spin on the Cinderella story and the different emotions that ran parallel but were different from the average fairy tale approach.  I think readers of the YA, New Adult, Sci-fi, Action and more would find this a very fun and fast read.  I already got the next book in the series and can't wait to see what lies in store for Cinder and more characters!

Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult & Samantha van Leer, Book Review

General Information
Genre: YA
Publisher: Simon Pulse Simon Schuster
Published: June 26, 2012 (first published June 1, 2012)

Book Summary (per Goodreads)
Delilah is a bit of a loner who prefers spending her time in the school library with her head in a book—one book in particular. Between the Lines may be a fairy tale, but it feels real. Prince Oliver is brave, adventurous, and loving. He really speaks to Delilah.
And then one day Oliver actually speaks to her. Turns out, Oliver is more than a one-dimensional storybook prince. He’s a restless teen who feels trapped by his literary existence and hates that his entire life is predetermined. He’s sure there’s more for him out there in the real world, and Delilah might just be his key to freedom.
A romantic and charming story, this companion novel to Off the Page will make every reader believe in the fantastical power of fairy tales.

My Thoughts
This was my first Jodi Picoult book and I enjoyed it!  It was a sweet, cute and fun read, however parts (just parts..not the whole story) were somewhat predictable.  I loved the light-hearted aspects of a teen love story and the way the two authors created two fully developed and believable worlds. My initial concern was that this book would be like the beginning of the movie Enchanted. While some of the story has that theme where you can tell a character will be leaving a book that is a prince, that was the extent of the similarity for me.

The characters in this story are extremely relateable.  One could see themselves in different aspects and events in this book.  I also love that I do not have a favorite character after reading this book.  I enjoyed all of the characters, even the "mean girls" of the high school because the conversations, thoughts and emotions shared by the authors is just so on point.

I would recommend this book to those that like a book that has a great developed storyline, characters that you can relate to and is a fun and quick read.  I can't wait to begin the next book Off the Page to see what happens to Delilah, Oliver, their friends and more!

Raleigh NC Gluten & Allergen Free Wellness Event~ Tips and Tricks

I know I always try to research or find out information to get the most bang for the buck or experience as much as I can when I go to events.  To help y'all achieve the same goal I wanted to share some tips that I found on the GFAF Wellness Event Facebook as well as some of what I have learned at the other two events I attended!

It does get crowded.  So definately wear comfortable clothing, shoes and release sometimes you may get bumped or bump into someone/something.

Such a good tip!  Most tables give some type of sample or product so it was great to have products to carry some of them..especially since many were sweet products.
Best tip out there!!  Do not be shy or worried about sharing other sensitivities!  These vendors and this event make sure to help us out.  I shared that I am dairy sensitive and every table was able to address or answer that concern.
The deals really are great!  I know I thought I had bought enough of something, but when I ran out I went to the website for this food product and was like noooo why didn't I buy more while I was there!

Other tips~
*Dress comfortably.  You will be on your feet for quite a while so make sure you are in shoes that will support that.
*Plan ahead of time what presenters you want to go to so that you can fit in all the vendors and your presenters!  These speakers have some great information and lessons to share with us.
*Do not be afraid to ask questions.  All the vendors I have talked to have shared with me their plans to grow in other areas of NC or online, etc. if they do not currently deliver/sell in my area.  They knew their products, business plan and more.  It was a delight to discuss all these items with such caring and knowledgeable businesses or health advocates.

I still have a few tickets left for you to attend this event for FREE!  So just email me if you are interested: First come first serve!

Book Summary (per Goodreads)
**The complete dark erotic Filthy Serial Novel with an epilogue and bonus material**

She runs from darkness
Into more of the same.
She runs to darkness,
She can never stay away.

Faye Turner is a nineteen-year-old homeless prostitute addicted to cocaine.

Her life is simple, bouncing from one high to the next, bent over greasy truck seats for faceless men. But everything changes when Rhett Hale comes back into her life. Her devilishly handsome step-brother brings life-changing news and a special kind of hate reserved only for Faye. But all the hate in the world can’t hide Rhett’s lust for her.

He wants something wild. Something filthy.

And Faye is tempted to give him just that.

But nothing is simple. Rhett isn't the only part of her past that comes back.
Faye can't run.
She can't hide.
She becomes twined up in the razor sharp lies she fought so hard to get away from.

But lies only bloody the path to the truth.

My Thoughts
Quite simply this series was fantastic.  It was dark.  It was erotic.  However, it was also so much more than just an erotic romance.  It showed emotions, the plot was well developed and I thought genius in how the details were delivered to the readers.  I found the approach to the emotions and the discussion of morals and events very raw.  This is probably a large part of why I found this story so captivating.  The characters were loveable, irritating, heartbreaking and frustrating throughout the book.  She showed the good, the bad and the oh so deeply ugly in this story of family, love, abuse, growth, justice and more.

It is a story that shows everyone has their times of strength and their times of weakness.  The bonus material is some of what I think about the most when I reflect on this story.  I love how the stories changed and how the story truly ends after all the bonus material.  Megan Martin has other books beyond this series and I cannot wait to try them out as well.  While not necessarily the genre I gravitate to the most frequently I enjoyed reading this story greatly.
