Book Summary (Per Goodreads)
VAMPIRE'S BANE is a mature young adult paranormal fantasy/romance/action & adventure/post-apocalyptic story.

A lethal sword.

A dangerous mission.

A seventeen-year-old girl finding her way in a world that is nothing like she remembered.

When Maylin Kavanagh’s parents surrendered her to The Program, they swore it was for her protection. After being confined in a small underground cell for nearly two years, she is finally released.

But the world has changed.

Most of the populace has been wiped out by a deadly disease, and the rules of society have regressed. But that’s not the worst of it. When her group is kidnapped by a band of rogue vampires, Maylin realizes the decline of the human population has brought other races to the forefront—races she never knew existed. And now they’re all battling for survival and power.

In his father’s absence, Thane Warwick must lead his people. He has two priorities: find his father and find humans who can supply blood to his tribe. Immediately intrigued by his latest captive, he becomes interested in Maylin for more than just her blood, but he soon discovers that he must make a choice between his father and her.

Despite their attraction, Maylin and Thane each have an agenda, and only one can be the victor.

My Thoughts
Everything I hope for in a YA read and more.  I was completely surprised by several twists that showed up in this story and loved it!  Normally I am not a fan of the cliffhangers in a series...I just am not the most patient of readers (people), but the cliffhanger in this book was amazing..I hit the last page and was like wait what..no!  I mean you can't leave us not knowing the outcome..I have so many questions.  I knew I was enjoying the story, but when my mouth dropped open I knew that I was hooked.

When you read the blurb about the book you immediately know that this is a different type of society.  Throughout the book there are questions about the changes, we get glimpses of the groups previous lives and we learn about one (maybe more) lifeforms beyond humans. SD writing style created a great image in my head of how this world must look like to this group who has been underground for 2 years.  I must admit I have my favorites in this series (fingers crossed for Thane and Maylin..I can't help it!!), but after seeing some of the action and events towards the end of this book and reading the preview for the next book I wonder if I have chosen well or if my favorites will be changing!

I am so glad I bought more of Suzannah Daniels books at the SASS15 event because after finishing this story I can't wait for 1)the next in this series and 2)more stories from this author!  If you like stories that are fast paced and have you questioning what will or did happen you will enjoy this book in my opinion:)
