Last Minute Gifts

Christmas Eve and you realized you don't have all the gifts done, or that you need more, or that you don't actually like what you picked out..you still have several options, but this is one of my favorite...

Make a donation to a charity.  Make the donation in honor of your friend or family member and then gift them the receipt or card saying what the charity is about and why you chose that charity.  It could a topic that your person is interested in, something that means something to them personally or you personally, etc.

Below are a list of some charities, big and small...american and international...that I find interesting and worth looking into if you want to make a donation during this holiday time!

"

*Mission~ "A child-advocacy ministry that pairs compassionate people with those who are suffering from poverty.  The ministry releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty. The goal is for each child to become a responsible and fulfilled adult.
*Mission~ "The Humane Society of the United States and our affiliates provide direct care to more than 100,000 animals each year—more than any other animal welfare organization—through our sanctuaries, veterinary programs and emergency shelters and rescues. We work to professionalize the field of animal care with our education and training programs.

We confront the largest national and international problems facing animals, which local shelters don’t have the reach or the resources to take on, such as animal fightingpuppy millshorse slaughter and soringseal killing and other forms of commercial slaughter of marine mammals, captive hunting and the wildlife trade, and inhumane slaughter and factory farming.
While we come to the aid of animals in crisis, we also attack the root causes of problems. Our most important goal is to prevent animals from getting into situations of distress in the first place. We drive transformational change for animals—bringing a wide set of tools to take on the biggest fights, confronting multibillion dollar industries and staying the course until we achieve reform."

*Mission~ "Improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medical resources needed for their care."
*Mission~ "Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, CI empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity."

*Mission~ "ARC works with its partners and constituencies to provide opportunities and expertise to refugees, displaced people and host communities. We help people survive conflict and crisis and rebuild lives of dignity, health, security and self-sufficiency. ARC is committed to the delivery of programs that ensure measurable quality and lasting impact for the people we serve.
*Mission~ "Our mission is to become the leading organisation in the provision of psychosocial support for children living with HIV in Southern Africa.  Having proved the effectiveness of this concept in Lesotho, our vision is to work in partnership to positively transform the lives of the world's most vulnerable children."

*Mission~ "ACF International, a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger, works to save the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger."

*Mission~ "We help people worldwide where the need is greatest, delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care."

*Mission~ "Charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water people in developing nations."

There are many other amazing charities out there so if these don't suit your needs keep looking!  If you know of some that I should add to this post or to my "Support a Cause" page please let me know!
